How I Can Help

You may appear capable and successful while privately feeling anxious, exhausted, uncertain, or disconnected from yourself. Perhaps you have learned to measure your worth by what you accomplish, how much you give, or how well you meet other people's expectations.

Therapy offers a place to slow down, understand the patterns shaping your life, and develop a different way of responding—one grounded in greater clarity, self-trust, and choice.

Anxiety, Panic & OCD

Anxiety can take many forms: persistent worry, panic attacks, physical tension, intrusive thoughts, overthinking, or a constant need to anticipate what might go wrong. You may understand intellectually that your fears are unlikely, yet still feel unable to quiet them.

Together, we look beneath the immediate symptoms and identify the patterns that keep anxiety going. You will learn practical ways to respond differently to uncertainty, fear, and distress rather than allowing them to dictate your choices.

Perfectionism, Self-Worth & People-Pleasing

Perfectionism is not always obvious. It may look like competence, responsibility, high achievement, or being the person others rely upon. Underneath, there may be a persistent fear of making mistakes, disappointing others, or being judged as inadequate.

Therapy can help you understand where these expectations began, recognize the cost of continually overriding your own needs, and build a sense of worth that is not dependent on achievement or approval.

Burnout & Professional Pressure

You may be functioning well on the outside while feeling depleted, irritable, detached, or unable to enjoy what you have worked hard to achieve. This is common among professionals, graduate students, doctoral candidates, caregivers, and people accustomed to carrying significant responsibility.

Our work focuses on more than simply managing your schedule. We examine the internal demands, beliefs, and relational patterns that make it difficult to rest, set limits, or feel that what you do is ever enough.

Trauma & Painful Patterns

Trauma is not defined only by what happened, but also by how you learned to survive it. Strategies such as staying guarded, suppressing emotion, anticipating danger, or taking responsibility for everyone else may once have protected you but now leave you feeling isolated or stuck.

We work at a pace that respects your history and your capacity. The aim is not to erase the past, but to reduce its control over your present relationships, choices, and sense of self.

Relationships & Life Transitions

Relationships and major transitions often bring long-standing patterns into sharper focus. You may be navigating separation, loss, changes in identity, family conflict, retirement, relocation, career change, or uncertainty about what comes next.

Therapy provides space to understand what you want, recognize the roles you have been expected to play, and make decisions that reflect your own values rather than fear, guilt, or obligation.

Therapy for Older Adolescents

Older adolescence can involve intense pressure around identity, relationships, school, independence, and the future. Young people may appear successful while privately struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, perfectionism, emotional overwhelm, or fear of disappointing others.

I offer older adolescents a respectful and collaborative space where they can speak honestly, better understand their emotions, and develop practical skills for managing difficult situations. When appropriate, I also help families find ways to support growth while respecting the adolescent's increasing independence.

How We Work Together

My style is warm, engaged, and direct. Therapy with me is active and collaborative—not simply a place to describe what happened during the week.

I draw from CBT, DBT, ACT, schema-informed therapy, and trauma-informed approaches. We will slow things down, identify recurring patterns, and connect present difficulties with the experiences and beliefs that shaped them. We will also develop practical tools you can use outside the therapy room.

The purpose is not to turn you into someone else. It is to help you respond to your life with greater freedom, steadiness, and trust in yourself.

Taking the Next Step

I provide individual psychotherapy for adults and older adolescents, in person in New York City and through telehealth throughout New York and Connecticut.
